Website Translation

Why should web content not be translated as plain text?

Language variations have a huge influence on which words (keywords) people use when looking for a service or product on search engines. Therefore in website translation, words need to be carefully selected as they will affect the performance of the website on search engines such as Google, Bing, etc.

There are a number of different ways in which websites can be translated and there are advantages and disadvantages for both the client and the translator with each of them. This is why the price varies from project to project.

Website translation from a document

This option is the simplest one and it is when you send me the content of your document as a Word document file (or .txt, .csv or .xls), I do the wordcount excluding the non-translatable code if applicable and return your website translated within the agreed timeframe.

Discounts may be applied to large volume texts (<10.000 words).

Content Management System website translation
Translation directly in your CMS

If you prefer to have me translate directly into your Content Management System, that is also fine.
I regularly work with Wordpress, Joomla, Wix and I am quite familiar with other open source tools like Drupal.
If the content of your website is managed by a custom-built CMS, I can also translate directly on it.

You can also just send me the domain name or URL of the website you want to translate and I will separate the HTML code or non-translatable sections of the document and focus on the content which needs translating.

I am also familiar with HTML language and I am confident in what needs and does not need translating.

Localization of web graphical elements
Localization of web graphical elements

Alt text (or Alternative text) is descriptive text associated with an image aimed at users who have turned off images in their browser or are using a screen reader due to a visual impairment.

The Alt text needs localizing along with the rest of the website content. That can be done directly on the CMS, or I can send the localized graphical elements as a separate excel file.
